Natural areas with unique ecosystems
Mallorca surprises the visitor with the great amount of natural places it treasures and the diversity of its landscapes. Mallorca's biodiversity is very high and, due to its insular condition, there is a significant number of endemic species, both in flora and fauna. There is an extensive network of protected areas and 20 % of the territory is part of the European Union's Natura 2000 Network. Mountains, holm oak and pine forests, wetlands, dune systems, beaches and coves, marine reserves, as well as small islands and islets, are just some of the places to connect with nature.
